Kaslo Search and Rescue
To provide search & rescue services in the North Kootenay Lake region.
April was a busy training month for the team, which included a team Tracking weekend, 3 members attending Central Okanagan Rope Exercise for a weekend, 2 members completing a weekend of Raft Guide training, our Canine Team participating in a weekend of HRD detection training and specialty teams like our Rope Rescue team met to train several times. On top of this, we wrapped up our Road Rescue themed weekly training nights with something slightly different – a competition based evening with teams aiming to be the first to make it, with full rescue gear, to the top of Strawberry Ridge to rescue a subject in medical distress. Thanks to Mark for organizing our Strawberry Ridge training!
A huge congratulations to Rik Valentine on receiving a BC Achievement Community Award! Rik’s dedication to community service is inspiring, and we’re honoured to have him as a member of Kaslo Search and Rescue. Well deserved, Rik—thank you for all that you do!
It's volunteer appreciation week and ours spent the day….volunteering! We were tasked to assist with a search for a missing kayaker on Kootenay Lake. Great teamwork by all the teams who came together today.
Three members of Kaslo Search and Rescue are participating this weekend. Thank you COSAR!Over 100 Search and Rescue rope rescue techs are in Kelowna this weekend at Myra Adventure Park and on the KVR for the Central Okanagan Rescue Exercise. This 3 day event provides an opportunity for rope techs from around the province to practice their rope rescue skills in a challenging environment.![]()

This past weekend, 11 members expanded their tracking skills thanks to the excellent Wild Path's lvl 1 and 2 programs provided by Bryan Hunt of Corvid Development Inc. Always nice to have Bryan out to teach, and we couldn't have asked for better weather this time!
This week's training focused on road rescue, including glass management, door and pillar removal.
